Community Outreach!
The community represents an entry point to understanding the issues that is top in the agenda of a given area. TEARS through the community theatre approach and peer led participatory approaches is able to stimulate discussion and engage the community through its outreach programs to start discourse geared towards solving the issues at hand. As the community engage with the issues at hand, TEARS is able to harvest these and slowly start mapping out the issues as it seeks to seek ways of addressing them. Partnership and linkages plays a huge role is TEARS work as a catalyst since, the community is able to be linked to players in the community who can be able to assist the community to deal with the issues. The community members are able to be linked to and with potential service providers who are now able to continue the dialogue aimed towards reaching an amicable solution.
TEARS has reached the community on issues ranging from health (HIV and AIDS related diseases, reproductive health), Good Governance, social enterprise training, mobile Information Communication Technology training to rural communities, life skills training after seeing the need to ensure that the community makes decisions that are guided by proper information and current facts.
Further linkages and referrals network have been developed by the provincial administration, local hospitals, NGO’s and key services providers in identified areas of need. The community is then linked to these players thereby giving them the chance to further explore their concerns with a view to move them to a higher level.
